Alto’s is a small family-owned company in Ellensburg, Washington. All of our tools are designed by us, and assembled by hand in our factory. In 1974, Alto Albright invented the original Alto’s EZ Mat to cut mats for his wife Juanita who was a watercolor painter. Over the years, Alto and his son Sam developed our entire line of mat cutting tools. We are proud of our quality products, and personal customer service is our priority.
In 1999 quilters requested that we make a tool to help them measure and cut fabric. Through substantial research and consultation with experienced quilt teachers and designers, we developed the original QuiltCut, followed by the QuiltCut2 and QuiltCut Pro. We since have discovered that our Circle and Oval Cutters also work for cutting fabric! In 2015 the QuiltCut line of tools was purchase by a Seattle based company called RulerSmith. RulerSmith makes many of the accurate, plexiglass rulers that other companies sell under various names and actually cut the QuiltCut straight edges for the QuiltCut tools.
