A frame should not hang flat against the wall. Bumpers are felt or rubber pads attached to the bottom corners on the back of the frame. This allows air to circulate between the wall and the frame which discourages mold growth.

*A frame package is sealed against dust and insects by gluing a sheet of kraft paper to the back of the frame. For archival framing use acid-free glue and acid-free paper.
